Tulum Travel Guide

IMG_1683

For me, there is nothing better than a vacation on a tropical beach.

For Hector’s birthday this year, we got together with some of our closest friends and rented an amazing house in Tulum, Mexico. The house was literally in the middle of the jungle. It was surreal, to say the least. It’s truly sad that we don’t get to experience nature in this way that often. It’s been a hectic couple of months for both Hector and I, and it was incredible to take a few days off, no work, no stress and just relax, surrounded by our friends and nature. The beauty and natural richness of Mexico, especially beaches like Tulum, always take my breath away. If you ever get the chance to visit, GO! You will not regret it! If you don’t want to take my word for it, maybe these photos will convince you!

Also, before you go, I wrote down my favorite to-do’s while in Tulum…cause you know, it’s becoming a Blank Itinerary tradition…

Where to eat:

Posada Margherita: The menu changes regularly but if you get lucky, the buffala is a must, and their homemade pastas! ALL of their pastas are Ah-mazing, we went several times with a party of 6 so we practically tasted the whole menu. A definite must!

Arca: Super cute and romantic, but make sure to wear repellent beacause it’s out in the open! The lamb was delicious!

Hartwood: Everyone, I mean everyone recommended this place, but unfortunately we were unable to make it because you HAVE to make reservations that same day and we were such a large party that it made it impossible. Please go and tell me how it is!

La Euphemia: Best tacos in TULUM, and the ambiance is so cool, hippy cool. It was our first stop in Tulum and it definitely set the vibe. Perfect for lunch after a day at the beach!

Casa Jaguar: Great for drinks!

Chamicos: A good local fishery, with the best ceviches! It is managed only by local fisherman’s and once the fish sells out from that day, it’s gone! A must as well!

Where to stay:

Casa Godi: We stayed in Casa Godi, a house we found through airbnb.com. It was breathtaking, just imagine the lagoon on one side and our private beach on the other. Sunset and sunrise! What more could we ask for? We were in the mood for something intimate since we were a group of friends, but it’s only worth it if you are a large party since the rent can get expensive if its not split up between friends.

Be Tulum: Most expensive hotel in Tulum, but if you are up for it you will definitely have a great time.

Coqui Coqui: Hector and I want to go back and stay here. The decor is amazing, location and overall I have heard really great reviews!

What to do:

Visit Cenotes:  Dos Ojos, Gran Cenote y Casa Cenote

Lagoon Campechen: This was so much fun! It’s a natural difting river, where the current literally takes you through. My friends and I had so much fun, between the admiration of mother nature and a good time with friends!

Temazcal: For an authentic mayan experience, I recommend partaking in a temazcal organized by Dos Palmas, near Cenote Dos Ojos.
