I love finishing Fashion Month in Paris. I never would have imagined that one day, my job would take me to Paris a couple of times a year. It’s one of my favorite cities. The venues for the shows here are not only spectacular, but having Paris as a backdrop truly makes it magical. Here are my looks and recap for each show!
CHRISTIAN DIOR
Starting off Paris Fashion Week with Christian Dior. This season’s ready-to-wear collection is a mixture of (natural elements) and sophistication. Inspired by nature’s colors, the show kicked off in neutral colors combined with blue, stripes and floral prints. High necks, long dresses and slouched pants in jacquard, silk and printed fabrics where part of the collection, I even saw some cool bleached denim ombré pieces. The show later transitioned into beautiful evening wear in silk and see through fabrics with Dior’s signature handmade embroidered details. I wore the dreamiest Dior dress to the show. Here are some other photos I loved wearing Dior as well.
UNRAVEL PROJECT
Edgy is what best describes this collection! Some very interesting drapery going on in this collection. Draped tops, skirts and trousers in fabrics such as leather, denim, silk, knits and even latex. My personal favorite look from the show was the grey blazer with crossed over lapels, paired off with leather shorts and knee high leather boots, what a look!
LOEWE
Loewe is known for its razor sharp construction and fine detailing. With that being said, the show kicked off with high necklines, lots of lace detailing and light layers of pristine transparency, all having aristocratic features. Voluminous garments and architectural silhouettes were for sure attention grabbers. The delicacy of the fabrics, exaggerated sleeves and the sophisticated silhouettes definitely added that drama effect to the show!
BALMAIN
I was so excited to attend the Balmain show. The collection is inspired in the early 2000s, which means the soundtrack for the show was amazing, I had such a great time! Exciting silhouettes in every single look, as well as so much detailing in all the pieces. The first part of the show included a series of elegant black and white looks with cutouts, geometric shapes and stripes. The show transitioned onto more vivid colors which included a series of denim looks in monochrome tones and so many pleated dresses, skirts and tops in contrasting contrasting colors. I wore a classic Balmain blazer to the show and at night wore the most incredible sequin mini dress to their after party. It is not something I would usually wear but I will easily step out of my comfort zone for Balmain.
ALESSANDRA RICH
Alessandra Rich is the modern vintage! The silhouettes for her looks are all ’80s based, with the fusion of puff sleeves, lace, bows and delicate embellishments in the garments. This collection included elegant dresses in velvet, silk and lace and of course, tweed suits. Tweed suits just couldn’t be left out, the suits came in plaid and soft colors.
ALTUZARRA
It’s all about knitting in this collection. Knitting is being used in so many of the looks along with other fabrics such as leather, suede and silk. There are many suits and dresses in this collection and knitting seems to make an appearance such as underneath blazers, at the hem of a dress and even over a button down blouse. The knitting definitely adds a laid-back feel to this elegant collection.
RALPH & RUSSO
Ralph and Russo’s ready-to-wear collection is a combination of soft, elegant and feminine with a ’70s edgy vibe. Silk mini dresses, maxi dresses and suits in soft colors with feathers, sequins and lace introduced the first part of the collection. Transitioning onto edgier looks, a series of plaid overalls and suits with black lace accents as well as sheer maxi dresses with ruffles and embellishments.
MIU MIU
Looks inspired by the early 1950s with a modern take. Suits had so much detailing in them and just naming a few, crimped effects, large buttons and broad shoulders all played a huge part.Oversized blazers and long plaid vests looked amazing paired with trousers and leather skirts. Some more vivid looks walked down the runway as the show progressed. Dresses, skirts and vests in contrasting colors keeping the same crimped effect while still utilizing other elements such as embroidery and fur.
CHANEL
The show took place at the beautiful rooftops of Paris. The traditional Chanel tweed suit came in plaid in a variety of youthful colors. What made this collection distinct from previous ones is that the traditional Chanel suit is reimagined as both a romper and dress while still keeping the Chanel essence, of course. Chanel kept it interesting incorporating materials not typically seen at a Chanel show, such as denim, metallics, and logo print looks.
LOUIS VUITTON
Closing off Paris fashion week with Louis Vuitton in one of the most amazing venues, the Cour Carrée. Focusing on the 1800s, the collection carried out a retro aesthetic. Starting off the show with a zigzag rainbow sequin vest over a plaid puff sleeve blouse. As the show progressed, the clashing of prints and textures increased and the looks got even better! There really is something about layering different types of fabrics and mismatching colors makes an outfit so attractive.
