Easy Ways to Make your Bathroom Less Boring

dsc_2119
While in the process of settling into a new home, I have learned that the best way to tackle the decoration is by going room by room. I started with the master bedroom and have now made my way to the guest bathroom. I would describe my overall décor style to be very Scandinavian: simple, minimalistic and functional, yet cozy. I partnered up with Marks & Spencer to show you how a few key design pieces can create the perfect vibe in your bathroom.

1. Fun Functionality

Even though a bathroom is meant to be functional, it doesn’t mean you should leave it bare and boring. You can make a bathroom cozy and beautiful and it is a great way to play around with some trends that might not be as suited for other parts of the house. Take some of the basics you need in a bathroom, like a trash bin, and use those as a way of setting the vibe. I went for some handmade seagrass baskets to use as the trash bins. I love the texture and creative feel it gives the bathroom.

2. Something Bold

I like a clean and crisp vibe for a bathroom but you can easily include one bold decoration piece to stand out. I opted for this modern, gold pineapple. It really stands out with the rest of the neutral tones in the bathroom and it also matches some of the other gold accent pieces I am including in the rest of the house.

3. Don’t Forget to Relax

The bathroom can also be a place to relax and unwind. I knew I had to get this bamboo bath bridge for my bathroom to make sure I had all my bath salts, soaps, and other toiletries handy for whenever a calming bath is needed. Plus, I really liked the theme of using all kinds of decoration made from natural things like the seagrass baskets and the water hyacinth toilet roll holder, so the bamboo was the perfect touch.

4. Repeat Themes in other Rooms

Though each room has its own key unique decor pieces and vibe, I like to introduce some similar basic items in other parts of the house to have a continuity of a theme. For example, I used a basket like the ones in the bathroom in a cozy nook in the living room to store snuggly blankets. It’s an easy way to have a similar theme in the whole house and simply add key décor pieces to make each room stand out. All this nook needed were some extra cushions and blankets to make it the perfect cozy spot in the house.

Great post! I will be using some of these tips when I am in the final steps of finishing our historic home in Italy. Love a cozy & modern space and gray is one of my absolute favourites to decorate with. I am just starting out my blog but I will post all my designs once I am at that stage in finishing my home. xoxo Chantelle http://www.chantelleno5.com
