My Breakfast Acai Bowl Recipe

Greetings from Hawaii! I just arrived today and I am so excited to be in this tropical paradise. So, I thought today I would share with you my home made acai recipe! This tropical berry is my go-to breakfast. I have been craving acai day and night because of the pregnancy. It’s something I like normally but the pregnancy makes me crave it even more. I have been having it for breakfast almost every day. I have it as a snack, I have it as a drink, as a meal… I. Love. it.  I have tried all the acai places in San Diego but honestly, I have perfected the recipe at home to make it just how I like it. If you like acai, try it out. If you haven’t tried an acai bowl… do it! Now!


¡Saludos desde Hawaii! Acabo de llegar hoy y estoy muy emocionada de estar en este paraíso tropical. Por lo tanto, pensé que hoy compartiría con ustedes mi receta casera de acai! Esta fruta tropical es mi desayuno casi todos los días. Tengo antojos de acai día y noche por el embarazo. Es algo que me gusta normalmente, pero con el embarazo se me antoja mucho más y todo el tiempo. Lo tengo como una bebida, como una comida, como un snack … Amo los acai bowls. He probado todos los lugares de acai en San Diego, pero honestamente, he perfeccionado la receta en casa para hacerla justo como me gusta. Si te gusta el acai, intenten hacerlo en casa! Si no has probado un bowl de acai … Háganlo ahorita mismo!! No saben de lo que se pierden!

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

For Acai Pureé

1/2 small banana

1 100-g (3.5-oz) pack frozen unsweetened acai berry pulp (TRY: Sambazon Unsweetened Acai Smoothie Pack; before opening your acai pack, run pack under water for 5 seconds to thaw and break the frozen pulp into smaller pieces.)

1/2 cup frozen strawberries

1/2 cup frozen blueberries

1/2 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk

Toppings:

Granola

Coconut Shreds

Banana

Creamy Almond Butter

Honey if you would like to sweeten

 

 

Instructions/Instrucciones

  • Prepare acai purée: In a blender, add banana, acai pulp, strawberries, blueberries and a splash of milk. (TIP: Add to blender in that order as adding softer ingredients first makes it easier on your blender blades.) Blend on low until larger chunks are broken down, then gradually increase speed, adding a splash of milk at a time, and stopping to scrape down sides of blender if needed. When ingredients have mostly come together and all of milk has been added, blend on high for 15 to 20 seconds more.
  • Pour acai purée into a bowl and add toppings

  • Prepare el puré de acai: En una licuadora, agrega plátano, la pulpa de acai, fresas, moras azules y un chorrito de leche. (SUGERENCIA: Añada a la licuadora en ese orden ya que los ingredientes más blandos hace que sea más fácil de licuar.) Mezcla hasta que los trozos más grandes se rompan, aumenta gradualmente la velocidad, agrega un chorrito de leche poco a poco. Raspa los lados de la licuadora si es necesario. Cuando los ingredientes se vean homogéneos y toda la leche se haya añadido, mezcla todo otra vez a velocidad alta por 15 a 20 segundos más.
  • Pon el acai en un recipiente y agrega los toppings a tu gusto.
