In honor of our 4th wedding anniversary today,
I thought it would be fun to share with you all a couple of fun facts, moments and mishaps from our wedding day! The past four years have been full of adventure, laughs, love and amazing moments I only imagined in my dreams. Being married to Hector has been everything I could have asked for in a partner and a marriage. I can’t wait for what life has yet in store for us. Well, hope you enjoy this post and share in my nostalgia of this day 4 years ago! (P.S my wedding video is at the end of this post if you want to see it!)
- It took place in Morelia, Mexico the city where my mom’s family is from. The church is one of the most beautiful churches I have ever seen.
- Since it was a destination wedding for most of the guests, it was like a 3 day party.
- My aunt who owns a flower shop in San Diego, tried bringing flowers from her shop to make my bouquet. Not sure what happened, but they didn’t survive the trip and she and my cousin were improvising and rushing to make me and my bridesmaids’ bouquets the morning of!
- The chandelier vendor forgot to place my order and I found out 2 days before the wedding. I had to get creative and used some sort of glass bubbles
and candles for the decor inside the tent. If you see the video you can see what I am talking about. It actually turned out amazing, in my opinion! - I actually practiced my vows with Ivana (my now-assistant) the morning of in my hotel room. I was so nervous! She definitely made me laugh and relax a bit.
- I didn’t see Hector that day until I walked down the aisle.
- On my way to the church, I wanted to cry because I was nervous and my cousin who was driving me, put on 90s music and told me to scream/sing my heart out.
- I didn’t have time/forgot to take official photos with my bridesmaids. Oops. Love you girls 😉
- For 5 years, Hector and I lied to my parents and everyone we knew about how we met because we met in Tijuana when I was young and not allowed to go. No one knew the truth until the priest surprised everyone (including us) and announced it to everyone we know during the ceremony. My mom’s face was priceless.
- The song Hector and I danced to was Jack Johnson’s Angel-the song Hector dedicated to me many years ago and was “our song” throughout our 5 year relationship.
- The party lasted until 5 am! Best night of my life.
- We consumed 95 bottles of tequila.
- Towards the end of the night my best friends and I threw ourselves on the floor to do the Fat Amy mermaid dance from the movie Pitch Perfect. We were obsessed with the movie at the time. People were confused.
- Some of our Jewish friends got chairs and lifted us up as they do in Jewish weddings. It was unexpected and so memorable!
- There was the most beautiful sunset that night.

En honor a nuestro 4to aniversario de bodas hoy, pensé que sería divertido compartir con todos ustedes algunos momentos divertidos e inolvidables y también unos cuantos contratiempos del día de nuestra boda! Los últimos cuatro años han estado llenos de aventura, risas, amor y momentos increíbles que sólo imaginé en mis sueños. Estar casada con Héctor ha sido todo lo que podría haber pedido en un compañero y un matrimonio. Por muchos más años y aventuras juntos! Bueno, espero que disfruten de este post y compartan en mi nostalgia de este día. (P.D. mi video de la boda está al final de este post si quieren verlo!)
- La boda fue en Morelia, México, la ciudad de donde es la familia de mi mamá. La iglesia es una de las iglesias más hermosas que he visto en mi vida.
- Ya que era una boda de destino para la mayoría de los invitados, fue como una fiesta de 3 días.
- Mi tía que tiene una florería en San Diego, trató de traer flores de su tienda para hacer mi ramo. No estoy segura de lo que pasó, pero no sobrevivieron el viaje y ella y mi prima estuvieron improvisando toda la mañana del día de la boda para hacer mi ramo y el de mis damas.
- El proveedor de los candelabros se le olvidó reservar mi pedido y me enteré 2 días antes de la boda. Tuve que ser creativa y use como un tipo de burbujas de vidrio y velas para la decoración dentro de la carpa. Si ven el video pueden ver de qué estoy hablando. La verdad salió increíble en mi opinión!
- Practiqué mis votos con Ivana (como muchos de ustedes ya saben, ahora es mi asistente) la mañana de la boda en mi habitación de hotel. ¡Estaba súper nerviosa! Definitivamente me hizo reír y me ayudo a relajarme.
- No vi a Héctor ese día hasta que entré a la iglesia.
- En camino a la iglesia, quería llorar porque estaba tan nerviosa y mi primo que iba manejando, puso música de los 90 y me dijo que cantara lo más fuerte posible.
- No tuve tiempo/ se me olvido tomar fotos oficiales con mis damas. ¡oops! Las amo niñas 😉
- Durante los 5 años de nuestra relación, Héctor y yo le mentimos a mis papás y a todo el mundo que conocíamos sobre cómo nos conocimos porque nos conocimos en Tijuana cuando mis papás no me dejaban ir. Nadie sabía la verdad hasta que el sacerdote sorprendió a toda la iglesia (incluyendo nosotros) y anunció la verdad en frente de toda la gente en nuestras vidas durante la ceremonia. La cara de mi mama no tenía precio.
- La canción que Hector y yo bailamos fue la de Angel de Jack Johnson – la canción que Héctor me dedicó hace muchos años y fue “nuestra canción” a lo largo de nuestra relación de 5 años.
- ¡La fiesta duró hasta las 5 de la mañana! La mejor noche de mi vida.
- Consumimos 95 botellas de tequila.
- Hacia el final de la noche mis mejores amigos y yo nos tiramos al suelo para hacer el “mermaid dance” del personaje Fat Amy de la película Pitch Perfect. Estábamos obsesionadas con la película en esos tiempos. La gente que nos veía estaba súper confundida.
- Nuestros amigos Judíos agarraron sillas y nos subieron como se costumbra en las bodas Judías. Fue inesperado y un momento inolvidable!
- Nos toco el atardecer mas hermoso esa noche.
