Hi everyone! A lot of you might recognize me from Paola’s stories, videos, photos etc. I am a part of the Blank Itinerary team and today, my first blog post is debuting on the Blank Itinerary website! I feel like people are always asking us about fun things to do in San Diego, and since I consider myself to be a pretty active person and a huge fan of my beautiful hometown, I thought I would share some of my favorite outdoor activities in San Diego. After all, if you come to visit, you have to take advantage of our great weather, beautiful beaches and active lifestyle!

¡Hola a todos! Muchos de ustedes tal vez me reconocen de videos y los stories en Instagram, de Paola. Soy parte del equipo de Blank Itinerary y hoy, les comparto mi primer post en el blog! Siento que la gente siempre nos pregunta sobre cosas divertidas que hacer en San Diego, y dado a que me considero una persona muy activa y muy fan de mi hermosa ciudad natal, pensé que compartiría algunas de mis actividades favoritas en San Diego. La verdad es que si vienes de visita a San Diego, tienes que aprovechar nuestro excelente clima, hermosas playas y nuestro estilo de vida activo!

 

1. Hike Torrey Pines

If you want a beautiful and easy hike, Torrey Pines is the place for you. It’s perfect to get your steps of the day in and it is easily one of the most beautiful hikes with amazing views. Search Torrey Pines State Reserve in your GPS and when you get there, you will see plenty of cars and people. Take the beach trail to end the hike on the beach and you can jog or walk back to your car. There are also plenty of good restaurants nearby. It’s one of my favorites spots in San Diego!

Hay muchos hikes padrísimos pero si buscas algo fácil y hermoso, tienes que ir a Torrey Pines! Es perfecto para completar tus pasos del día y, en mi opinión, es uno de los hikes mas bonitos y con las mejores vistas. Busquen Torrey Pines State Reserve en su GPS y cuando lleguen, van a ver a muchos coches y personas. Asegúrense de seguir el camino que se llama Beach Trail para acabar en la playa. También hay muchos buenos restaurantes por ahí. ¡Es uno de mis lugares favoritos en San Diego!

2. Paddle Boarding

This is one of my favorite things to do in San Diego. It can be relaxing or an intense workout and you get to explore beautiful San Diego landmarks in a unique way. My favorite places to do this are Coronado, where you can paddle all the way under the famous Coronado bridge and La Jolla Shores where you can paddle up close to the seals that hang out on the rocks. In La Jolla, from September to about November, you can also see leopard sharks (they are completely harmless) swimming underneath your paddle board. It is an incredible experience!

Esta es una de mis actividades favoritas en San Diego. Puede ser relajante o un buen workout y puedes explorar hermosos lugares de San Diego de una manera única. Mis lugares favoritos para hacer paddle son en Coronado, donde puedes remar hasta abajo del famoso puente de Coronado y en La Jolla Shores donde puedes remar cerca de las focas que se tiran en las piedras. También en La Jolla, desde septiembre hasta aproximadamente noviembre, puedes ver tiburones leopardo (son completamente inofensivos) nadando abajo de tu tabla! ¡Es una experiencia increíble!

 

3. Volleyball at Mission Beach

You can’t come to a California beach town and not play some beach volleyball! It doesn’t matter if you know how to play or not. Buy a cheap volleyball, get some friends, or make some friends at the beach and start a game! Mission Beach has plenty of nets already set up so all you need is a ball and at least one other person to have some fun and get in a good workout! Mission Beach is also a fun area close to a lot of bars and restaurants.

¡No puedes venir a una ciudad playera Calforniana y no jugar voleibol de playa! No importa si sabes cómo jugar o no. ¡Compra una pelota barata, llévate a unos amigos o haz amigos en la playa y empieza un juego! ¡Mission Beach ya tiene muchas redes instaladas, así que todo lo que necesitas es una pelota y al menos otra persona para divertirte y hacer un poco de ejercicio! Mission Beach también un área divertida cerca de muchos bares y restaurantes.

4. Rent a Sailboat

A couple of hours on a sailboat is not a bad way to spend your time. You can rent a sailboat in many places in San Diego. At Mission Bay, you can rent a sailboat for as low as $30! If you don’t know how to sail, you can also get an instructor to come with you and teach you the basics!

Un par de horas en un velero no es una mala manera de pasar su tiempo. Puedes alquilar un velero en muchos lugares de San Diego. ¡En Mission Bay, puedes alquilar un velero por tan solo $30! Si no sabes cómo velear, también puedes pedir que un instructor te acompañe y te enseñe lo básico.

5. Rent a Scooter

If you haven’t used one of the app-based scooter and bike rentals, where have you been?! Download Lime, Bird, Ofo, or any of the other popular rental apps and see San Diego in a new way! You can literally find these scooters and bikes all around San Diego now. You just need to download one of the apps to use them. They are so fun and of course, an environmentally friendly way to move around.

Si no has usado uno de los apps de patinetas eléctricas y bicicletas, ¿dónde has estado? Descarguen Lime, Bird, Ofo o cualquiera de las otras aplicaciones populares y conozcan San Diego de una nueva manera. Literalmente puedes encontrar estas patinetas y bicis por todo San Diego. Solo necesitas descargar una de las aplicaciones para usarlas. Son muy divertidos y, por supuesto, una forma ecológica de moverse.
