As most of you know, I very recently just moved but I am not quite finished with all the details.
Decorating a home is so much more difficult that it seems. It’s definitely very exciting to be able to make your home your own in the way you envisioned it but actually making it happen is not as easy as I thought. Things are starting to come together though, and I am excited to show you the end result soon. So, I thought it would be fun to share with you some basics that I would suggest you start with if you are thinking of redecorating your bedroom. That’s the room I have concentrated on the most and it was a bit overwhelming because I wanted it to be perfect. Based on my experience so far, here are the top 5 things you need in your bedroom when you are decorating!
Your bedroom is a reflection of you so let your interests, personality and style show! I am very minimalistic and like a clean and chic look so I tried to make my room reflect that. Pick a general theme and it’s easier to decorate once you decide the feel or vibe you want to go with. Maybe you like a vintage style or a more modern look with sleek lines and fun colors or even a nautical/beach theme is what you prefer.
A Comfy Rug
Not only do carpets add style and personality to any room, but there is nothing worse than waking up and stepping hard, cold floors (other than sitting on a cold toilet seat). I just purchased a huge rug that covers most of my bedroom and it definitely makes the room cozier. If you already have carpet, you can still add a small rug to make the room extra comfy and decorative.
Something to Lounge On
I like having something to sit on other than the bed. If you have the space, a small corner to curl up with a book or lounge on is ideal. I decided to install a hanging chair from the ceiling. It’s so cute and cozy doesn’t really take up much space.
Don’t be afraid to include something dramatic and bold in your decoration pieces. Maybe it can be a dramatic headboard, lamp or even the color of one of the walls. Stick to one or two bold pieces. I like minimalistic decorating but I hung giant gold plates on my wall and incorporated smaller gold decorative pieces throughout the room. I’m not quite done yet but I’m excited to show you the end result soon!
Pillows. Lots of Pillows.
Ok, well just don’t get too carried away. You want your bed too look inviting and comfortable but too the point that it’s overflowing in pillows. I love pillows and they can really make a difference in the decoration of your bedroom. Stick to your overall theme and color scheme but maybe try different patterns and shades to make them stand out. You can even use pillows to introduce a pop of color in your room.
I hope you enjoyed this post, I look forward to posting more about home decor since it really is a big part of my life right now. Make sure to visit my pinterest for additional inspo! xx, Paola.
