We’re taking it under the sea. As you might have seen on my insta-stories, Enzo’s turned one and we threw an amazing first birthday party for him with all our family and closest friends. We held it at an event space in Coronado which was perfect because it is beach front and even has a park next to it which was perfect for all the kids. Choosing the theme was a little stressful at first because I had no idea what to do because I wanted something cute yet unique. Then one night when I was giving Enzo a bath I realized that I started singing his favorite song – which is about an octopus, and his favorite time of the day is bath time (a true cancer) so it was a no-brainer!
We had the most incredible decor and desert table! Our party planner, Tanya Mareri, was amazing and she literally thought of everything. If you are in San Diego or Tijuana, I highly recommend her. She helped create the whole ambiance of the party with the lounge area on the sand (we got everything for the lounge from boho social) where everyone loved taking photos because it was so cute, the decor of the whole place and even a huge octopus made out of balloons for the photo booth courtesy of blinkbooth! Special shout out to Sea of Flowers as always, for creating the most gorgeous flower arrangements for the party! The desert table was completely decorated with incredible detail and sea animals! It was a masterpiece and of course everyone loved it. She also took care of the party favors for the kids which were so original and too cute! Each kid got a personalized beach towel with their name on it along with some candy and other goodies. For the adults, we had food from one of our favorite places at our local farmer’s market which makes the most delicious salmon and chicken and my favorite, we served virgin tamarindo micheladas.
We ended the party with cake of course, made by the very talented Danielle Flores. She literally made my idea come to life. And then, last but not least, there was a piñata! It isn’t a Mexican birthday party without one! It was a huge orange octopus and Enzo didn’t have a clue what was going on but it was fun for all the kids and yes, as you might have seen, even I tried to break the piñata.
The whole day was filled with so much love and laughter. It was such a happy day and incredible to see so many of your loved ones come together to celebrate the person you love the most in the whole world. Seeing the people you love, also love your child, is an incredible feeling. After all the support they all provided after our rough start, it was a joyous day to be able to all come together and celebrate our little miracle boy.
