My Honeymoon

Around this time I was coming back from my dream honeymoon. It was a month of travel to some of the most beautiful places I have ever been and where we had unforgettable experiences. From meeting elephants, going on safaris and scuba diving to trying new and strange foods and camel riding in the desert of Abu Dahbi. To date, it is the most epic trip I have ever done and I cannot believe how lucky I was to experience it all with Hector. It was a magical experience and I can’t believe it was already 4 years ago. I’ve been a little nostalgic and looking at some photos from the trip so I though I would share. What would be your favorite place to visit?!

Location: Hong Kong

Hotel: The Peninsula Hotel

Highlights: Victoria Peak, the Tian Tan Buddha aka The Big Buddha, Ladies Market, tea time at the Peninsula Hotel

Would I return? Amazing city! I recommend it for couples and/or families. I would love to go back one day.

Location: Chiang Rai

Hotel: Four Seasons Golden Triangle Tented Camp

Highlights: Basically stayed at the hotel. To this date, my favorite hotel ever. The food, people, experience is one-of-a-kind. You are in the middle of the jungle in an elephant camp where you get to interact with them night and day. Truly unforgettable.

Would I return? Absolutely. I cannot wait to one day take Enzo!!

Location: Bangkok

Hotel: Mandarin Oriental Hotel

Highlights: Dinner at one of the many sky bars! Take a river cruise. The Grand Palace. Wat Phra Kaew.

Would I return? I feel like it’s a place that I checked off my list but wouldn’t necessarily go back to.

Location: Siem Reap, Cambodia

Hotel: Shinta Mani Angkor

Highlights: Angkor Wat, one of the 7 wonders of the world. Basically you just come here to see this.

Would I return: Nope. It was cool to see but wouldn’t go back. Checked it off my list.

Location: Maldives

Hotel: Jumeirah Dhevanafushi

Highlights: Snorkeling, scuba diving, waking up to the sunset in our ocean villa, the feeling of being completely surrounded by the ocean.

Would I return? Best. Place. Ever. If I could vacation there every year, I would. If you are planning your honeymoon, you NEED to go here.

Location: Abu Dhabi

Hotel: Qasr Al Sarab Desert Resort by Anantara

Highlights: Being surrounded by the sand dunes of the desert, camel ride, dinner at night with the Arabian night sky, the amazing food!

Would I return? Absolutely!

Location: Istanbul

Hotel: Four Seasons Sultanahmet

Highlights: The whole city! The Blue Mosque, the Spice Market, Hiaga Sofia, the catacombs. It’s an incredible city with so much to see and do!

Would I return? Yes! 100%!

Your trip looked amazing up until the elephant ride. Please do not promote animal abuse. In order to “train” elephants they go through a process called Phajaan, which translates to crushing the spirit. And that’s exactly what it does. A lifetime of torture and abuse is no excuse for 20 minutes of selfie taking. Please look at the photos and do some research on this. I know everyone says that the camp they rode at takes care of their elephants and that they’re happy but behind the scenes it’s heartbreaking.

Looks like such an amazing trip – you guys really went to so many incredible once-in-a-lifetime places in one vacation haha!!

I really appreciated you sharing whether or not you would return to that place – especially with these being places that are more difficult to get to and so expensive, it’s helpful to hear honest feedback on if you did or did not think it was worth it. So thanks for sharing!!
