Staple Denim

Cali or New York? Or both!? I can never decide.

I was recently at NYFW so it is something I have found myself contemplating lately. I live on the west coast but I love both and always find it so interesting to see how fashion styles differ in cities like Los Angeles and New York. The defining factor for me is definitely the weather. We have such incredible beaches and weather in Los Angeles and the way I dress definitely reflects that. New York has an incredible fashion scene, and it’s fun to see how fashion changes along with the seasons and its extreme hot and cold temperatures but I have to say it’s nice to have the weather we have year round in Los Angeles. Los Angeles has a more casual and relaxed vibe. I love layering and combing casual pieces with other statement pieces to create a relaxed but chic look. For example, denim in Los Angeles is a basic staple in my closet, so much more than when I am in New York. These AG jeans are perfect for a typical day in Los Angeles. You will usually see me running around Los Angeles in jeans like these, a blouse and a cute blazer (or better yet, a blouse that looks like a blazer)! I go to my favorite tea shop, Alfred’s Tea, then run off to meetings and even to dinner with friends in this same outfit. I love that I can wear heels more in Los Angeles because you aren’t walking around as much as you do in New York. This is the beauty of L.A. All you need is the perfect pair of jeans. Throw on some cool heels and layers and you have an outfit that is good to go for any occasion the whole day.

I loved the big turned up hem at the bottom of the hem!

You’ve styled it so well, I would have always worried before that if I wore them that my look would look more like a throwback, but you’ve made it so modern!

    Lovely 🙂

Gorgeous! I love this everyday look, and jeans with a blazer is my uniform in LA. it’s just never too casual or overdressed! 🙂 Originally from Toronto, I’m used to the east coast way of dressing (except for when I’m on vacation). I love the cooler seasons and there’s a lot of opportunity to play with feathers, furs, leather and just tons texture, but I agree – when it comes to weather, you really can’t beat southern California!
