Valle de Guadalupe is a hidden gem, that lies only an hour away from San Diego. The moment you start driving towards the valley, immense green plains great your sight. You will know you are close when you see acres and acres of beautiful vineyards. Intrigued to visit this magical place? Well, sorry to break it to you, you are not the only one! Valle de Guadalupe has quickly become one of the top destinations to visit in Mexico, mainly because of its gastronomy, delicious wines and breathtaking scenery. I will summarize what to do in three sections: where to stay, what to eat and where to drink. I trust that with these recommendations you will be intrigued to visit and make the experience your own.
Where to stay:
Cabanas Cuatro Cuatros: You’ve heard of glamping right? (hipster way of saying glamorous camping) Well, my friends, this place is the definition of glamping itself. If that weren’t enough, the property also has “El Mirador” which is at the top of the mountain where you can see the 180 degree view of the pacific ocean from the other side. See for yourself here.

Bruma: If you follow me on social media, you will recognize this place. A small bed and breakfast that has yet to finish it’s establishments, but for now has 5 bedrooms with exquisite interior designs. The owners thought of every detail, making this property Instagramable everywhere you look. (#sorrynotsorry for the photo overloads this weekend)

This is what I call, a room with a view
Adobe Guadalupe: Tru Miller, the owner of this beautiful small hotel is an lovely woman. She makes you feel instantly welcomed, plus their wines are truly amazing!
Where to drink:
I usually recommend doing three wine tasting stops per day. Anything more than that, can get plain sloppy. This weekend, our first top was Decantos and after a couple too many drinks, it ended up being our only stop! The view at Decantos is really nice and the ambiance is so chill, it makes you not want to go anywhere else.
My top wineries, I would recommend would be: Adobe Guadalupe, Las Nubes, Mont Xanic, Santo Tomas, amongst others.
Where to eat:
Finca Altozano by Chef Javier Placencia; This place is one of my faves! A great place to spend the whole day, eating delicious food and great scenery. They created a lounging area on a couple of HUGE wine barrels, where you can sip wine with friends and watch the sunsets. Also, don’t forget to order the Pan de Elote asado and a Carajillo. You can thank me later 😉
Corazon de Tierra: chef Diego Hernandez; The ultimate farm to table concept at it’s finest. As they cook what they harvest, this place is a five course meal and a complete surprise as to what you are going to receive from the kitchen each night. All in all, I have been here many times and I have to say it has always been worth it!
La Esperanza Baja Med chef Miguel Angel Guerrero; I usually only recommend places I have been to, but this one is fairly new, so I have not been able to try it. It is definitely on top of my list, since rumor has it, it’s amazing!
Well kids, there you have it! You asked, and I answered! After receiving a lot of messages asking me where to go and what to eat while in Valle de Guadalupe, I decided to make this article a weekend tour guide. As most of you know, I am Mexican, so for me it is very important to implement tourism in Mexico and little by little enhance Mexico’s reputation because it really does have SO much to offer. Embrace it’s culture, learn from it and spread the good word! As always, thanks for stopping by!
Thanks so much for this tour guide! I want to go now, it looks beautiful!

Glad you had a chance to try Decantos..I love their wine.. Next time try Valley Girl Wines. The winemaker is a sweet lady with a passion for wine and she makes a great one!
It might be a “hidden gem” if you live in the USA, but Valle de Guadalupe is a big tourist destination to all of us Mexicans who even visit the place regularly. Nice pictures, if you’re still there go into Ensenada and visit the city.
Everything looks so pretty!!
