It’s Earth Day tomorrow! Recently, I had a conversation with a friend about how I could take small actions to be more sustainable and help the environment. Some are things I want to start doing specifically as a blogger, but others are things we can all do in our daily lives! In honor of Earth Day, I thought I would share some easy things we can all do to go a little “greener” and take care of this planet that is our only home.
- Shop Local –Support local designers and businesses. Foreign and mass-produced goods are harmful to the environment and local communities. They require an incredible amount of resources to produce. I love going to local smoothie places, restaurants that source locally and boutique shops.
- Don’t use “To-Go” Cups- This one is hard, especially as a coffee lover but I am really trying to make the effort to bring my own mug or simply take my time at the coffee shop to drink my coffee in a mug instead of using to-go cups.
- Have a Vegetarian Day– 51 percent or more of global greenhouse-gas emissions are caused by animal agriculture. I love meat and I think it would be too hard to give it up completely, but I also loved fruits and vegetables so having a a day every once in a while where I eat vegetarian is not too hard and I am helping the environment!
- Buy your Groceries at your Local Farmer’s Market- I love farmers markets! I go almost religiously and there really is no comparison. The food you get is just so fresh and in season. You know you are getting quality food. You are getting food that has been picked probably in the last day or two which means that they probably have retained more nutrients. Local food supports a clean environment, benefits wildlife and supports a more sustainable food system.
- Reduce Packaging Waste-As a blogger, I receive packages almost daily. Most of you have seen my opening my packages on my social media and many of you have said what I have thought for a long time: it’s such a waste! Some small items come wrapped in an excess of packaging. Of course, I recycle everything, but recently, someone brought to my attention that I should tell brands to please try to send in as little packaging as possible. I thought this was a great idea and something I will start doing. Even if it’s small changes, it’s still worth doing.
- Seek Socially Responsible Brands- There is no better feeling than spoiling yourself with something new and knowing your money is going to a good cause. I love discovering and working with brands that are socially aware and make it a part of their mission to either be more sustainable, give back to a good cause, and that are just more socially involved.
- Have Re-usable Bags Handy-Get a couple of reusable shopping bags and just keep in the trunk of your car. That way, you have then handy for whenever you go shopping and you don’t use any plastic bags.
- Apoyar Negocios Locales – Apoyen a diseñadores y negocios locales. Me encanta ir a comprar a tiendas boutique locales y comer apoyar restaurantes y negocios que usan material y productos locales.
I really should learn not to use to-go cups. Definitely a habit I forget to do!

I bought a cup to skip the to go cups. But mostly forget to pick it up. Small small efforts for all of us can chnage things. It is just that those smal things we are missing to do.
Great post girl.

Love these tips! We always try to get coffee “for here” so we don’t use the to-go cups disposible cups. It’s also a great way to slow down for a couple minutes in the morning (or afternoon).
Making earth green should be our first priority as it is not only important for the environment but also for the food purpose and food chain in the living community on the earth. In this sense, agricultural growth can tackle the things we are facing in the world right now. The agricultural sector is the backbone of a country if its economy depends upon it. Rather than the economy, agriculture also fulfills the nutritional need of the people of that country. The major export of crops includes wheat, rice, sugar, cotton, tobacco and pulses. Agriculture Manufacturers & Suppliers export them to various countries to fulfill the requirement for agricultural products.
Autumn will soon be here. Naturally, that implies army green will soon be seen everywhere. I love the versatility of the color.
