Splurge do’s & don’ts

Mixing high and lows has always been my thing. Growing up, always inspired by the newest and upcoming trends, I was always on the search to curate the same look with inexpensive clothing. I shopped (and still do) at H&M, Forever 21 and yeah occasionally, Neiman Marcus too. I am fond believer that in order to master your style and be comfortable with what you are wearing (and spending!), it must start from the moment you buy it.

Below are my splurge do’s and don’ts juuust in case you are thinking of going on a shopping spree anytime soon, say, Fall shopping ?!

Splurge on:

A good handbag: You will be wearing this every day, you can invest in a nice handbag that will not only uplift every outfit but also last you a long, long time.

Shoes: Now, splurging on good shoes doesn’t mean they all have to be Christian Louboutins, not all of your shoes have to have red soles, but you know what I mean. Invest in great shoes, first off,  your feet will thank you for it and also because people can tell when they are expensive, same goes for vice versa.

Sunglasses: Invest in ONE good pair of sunglasses and the rest, buy them as you go. Most of the time you will end up choosing your expensive sunglasses, over the cheaper ones, but hey there’s a place and time for everything.

Don’t Spurge on:

T-shirts: Ok, this might be a touchy subject, but I am just gonna say it. Personally, I find it ridiculous to spend more than $150.00 on a plain white t-shirt. (Please, give me your reasons, if you believe otherwise) My favorite t-shirts, have not cost more than $30.00. The thing is, well-fitted t-shirts are very hard to find but don’t give up. Be patient because in the end it’s worth the wait and you get to keep the change.

Trendy clothes: We have Zara, H&M, Asos, and Forever 21 to thank for that!

As for my outfit, my high and lows are the following:  Komono Sunnies ($60), Chanel Vintage Bag ($$$$), Choies Denim Dress ($20),  Zara Shoes ($80).
