Let’s have some feminine talk today.
Today I wanted to get a bit personal and talk about something that I think is important and as women, is worth sharing and discussing. Let’s talk about periods. I won’t make this super long, but since I share with you products I use for skin-care, beauty, makeup etc. I thought, why not share the products I use every month for my period? After all, we are so careful with what we put on our skin and our face, we should be wise also when it comes to what we use during that time of the month, especially if we are putting it inside our bodies. Personally, I use and always recommend women to buy organic tampons and pads. Maybe nothing will happen to you if you use conventional tampons and pads, but I honestly recommend organic products and I personally will never go back.
Did you know 70 percent of American women use tampons to manage their periods—and the average woman will use between 11,000 and 16,000 in her lifetime? And how often do women stop to think about that they are putting in their bodies when they buy tampons? There are so many known and unknown chemicals found in conventional pads and tampons that are quite alarming. Most tampons and pads are bleached with chlorine to make them white, which leads to a toxic byproduct called dioxin, which is linked to cancer as it’s a known carcinogen and endometriosis. The dangerous ingredients used in many tampons are linked to serious health problems like cancer, birth defects, infertility, vaginal dryness, and hormone disruption. And of course, you might have heard of TSS, or Toxic Shock Syndrome, which is really scary and is caused by the chemicals in conventional tampons if you leave it on for too long. Now, you might use conventional tampons and you might never suffer from any of this, but, I prefer to be on the safe side.
Personally, organic cotton is the way to go for pads and tampons. They don’t contain polyester, dyes, fragrances, or other synthetic ingredients found in conventional sanitary products. Also organic cotton is better for the environment! Most organic feminine products are biodegradable and hypoallergenic! Ok well, I didn’t want to make this super long but to end this post, I will leave links to some of the organic feminine products I use and honestly recommend:
- Lola- I currently use Lola and I love it because it’s a subscription and I never have to worry about going out to buy tampons. Seriously, it’s a time saver and also because I used to always forget to buy and would never have any when I would get my period. Now, I am always stocked.
- Target Organic Tampons– These are just some random organic tampons I once got at Target. If you look, you will find organic tampons almost anywhere!
- Honest– I love everything Honest and I use their tampons and liners all the time.
